Tracy Peterson is a Bay Area-based yoga instructor and wellness advocate. Her love affair with yoga and healthy living began ten years ago in Northern Idaho. She practiced for six years with Nancy Burtenshaw within the yoga realms of Baron Baptiste and Anusara. After traveling extensively throughout Asia in 2014, she received her formal training at Yoga Vidya Gurukul in Nashik, India, one of the oldest and well-established ashrams within the Bihar School of Yoga. Moving to the Midwest soon after her training, she met Joy Page of Joy of Yoga and continued to learn extensively from her yoga teachings and guidance which focus on holistic yoga through storytelling. Drawing on Buddhist principles, Tracy focuses on aligning the body in a non-linear approach to bring the practitioner closer to safety, sacredness, and strength. Tracy has drawn from her traditional training in India, crossed with her mentors with whom she found not only the edge of her practice, but also the beginning of her growth as a teacher.
Using breath awareness to connect the physical body to the subtle body, Tracy uses a hands-on style to help students rediscover and reconnect with their true nature. Approachable practices that meets the person where they are is how Tracy connects with her students, and helps bring alignment and awareness to not only their yoga practice, but their lives as well.
In the Bay Area, Tracy has a steady yoga practice, and teaches at multiple studios each day, including Nest Yoga and Ume Yoga as well as a base of corporate and private clients including LucasFilm, Disney, and the Claremont Country Club.
In the past year she has lived in the Bay Area, Tracy has been fortunate to weekly study with Richard Rosen and Annie Carpenter. She has also taken workshops with Judith Hanson Lasater and Mary Paffard, and continues to practice steadily with the best teachers in the world.
